I have never purchased a typewriter ribbon before, so this may be normal. The spools came sealed in a plastic bag, but the first 12"(?) or so was dry and would not produce legible letters. It is better now, but the letters are still a little light. Hoping for continued improvement.

I bought these from a speciality store hoping the ink would be darker than others purchased from a certain mass seller. Alas, they were of the same quality.
I was purchasing the typewriter ribbon for a friend with a an older manual typewriter, and he was not sure which ribbon to use. I found the descriptions on the typewriter.com website very helpful and we were able to install the ribbon perfectly and he is delighted to be able to use his typewriter again.
I found a Smith Corona manual typewriter when clearing out my mother-in-law's condo. My 12 year old granddaughter immediately tried it but, of course, the ribbon was very faint. Between us we managed to put in the new ribbon and she has been typing happily ever since! Thank you, Jim
